Environmental Learning From Sea to Sky:
As Arbor Heights Elementary School prepares for pre-K-5 classes to start, Bassetti’s Team led a tour of the new building with the Board of Directors for Seattle Public Schools, project staff, and members of the community. The design for the school’s pioneering Environmental-STEM program features Idea Labs and science/art/makerspace labs for hands-on, project-based learning. The site features a restorative approach to the original topography and landscaping, outdoor learning, and a close connection to its surrounding neighborhood. Both the building and site integrate learning examples of sustainability and engineering.
As final touches are being made, the tour provided the Bassetti Team and District an exciting chance to show how the building will provide unique educational opportunities for the area’s students throughout the year.
