We approach this third year of our participation in Obliteride bittersweetly. As many of you know, we lost our lead cyclist, Greg Hepp, in June to cancer. But as his wife, Linda, eloquently put it, “Often times obituaries state that an individual died after a long battle with cancer. I believe Greg did not so much battle cancer as he confronted it, saying, Cancer, you will not define me.”
That was the Greg we witnessed these last few years and the Greg we ride for this August, so that others may benefit from cancer research at Fred Hutch. Greg and his family believed that his best hope was offered from the trials being done through the UW Fred Hutch and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance teams in the field of immune therapy. Greg continues to support their research efforts with his posthumous gift of tissue donation.

We think Obliteride is a fantastic way to combine Greg’s love for biking, while helping to obliterate this disease. And we know he’ll be there in spirit, riding with us.
