Renton Memorial Stadium opens With a 5,3000 spectator capacity, Renton Memorial Stadium has reopened to serve all major football, soccer, and track and field events for the Renton School District. Lynnwood High School Recently named in 2011 Top Ten Schools Lynnwood High School was recently named in 2011 Top Ten Schools of the 21st Century by “Architectural Record”. The case study details the revitalization of the school. “Architectural Record” writer, Katherine Logan, says, “By approaching the design as an urban exercise, the architects generated a connective community for young citizens to inhabit. Open since September 2009, the new school engages students and offers them a meaningful place in the world.” Read more here.
Historic Ronald School design approved The King County Landmarks Commission voted unanimously to approve incorporation of the Ronald School, a Shoreline designated historic landmark, into Bassetti Architects’ design of the new Shorewood High School. Ronald School will be returned to its historic purpose, providing a comprehensive educational experience to Shoreline students. Renovation plans include rehabilitating the building to comply with seismic, energy and accessibility codes. Windows and doors will be replaced to match the original style of the building.
Fire Station 17 Wins Design Award Fire Chief Magazine’s 2010 Station Style Design Awards recognized Bassetti Architects’ Fire Station 17 with a Gold Award in the Station Renovation category. Fire Station 10 Awarded LEED Gold The City of Vancouver’s Fire Station 10 was recently awarded a LEED Gold Certification. Creative and pragmatic green design solutions include 20% less energy use than minimum code requirements, 90 % FSC-certified wood, and 98% construction waste diverted from landfills. All stormwater is treated for infiltration on-site.
Lakota Middle School opens The new 92,082 square-foot Lakota Middle School features the largest thin-film photovoltaic array in Washington. Designed for 800 students, the vision of “A School in the Park” led to indoor and outdoor learning spaces richly-inspired by nature. Each small learning community houses eight classroom spaces, two laboratory/studio spaces, and a two-story Great Room.
Chief Sealth International High School opens Designed to provide a personalized path from middle school to high school, Denny International Middle School / Chief Sealth International High School encourages and celebrates strong connections between schools, community, cultures and environment. Lynnwood High School wins Polished Apple Merit Award Bassetti Architects is pleased to announce Lynnwood High School received the Polished Apple Merit Award from the regional Council of Education Facilities Planners International (CEFPI).
Bassetti announces two new principals Eric Lanciault AIA returns to Bassetti after practicing as sole proprietor of Office oA in southwest Washington. His award-winning Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vancouver has been recognized for its sophisticated use of cast-in-place concrete. Other recent projects include Fire Station 10 in Vancouver and the Anatomical Sciences building at the University of Western States in Portland. Nancy Staub Callery AIA, LEED AP has focused on sustainable design for educational and community facilities. Nancy provided leadership on the landmark West Seattle High School, the new Chief Sealth High/Denny Middle International Schools and the expansion of Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart. Nancy's commitment to Northwest Indian communities helped shape the Quileute Tribe's Akalat Center in La Push.
Bassetti principals present abroad Greg Hepp AIA, LEED AP spoke to Korean architects, school administrators, planners, and government officials about sustainable school design. Greg was a keynote speaker at the Seoul National University of Technology Ninth International Housing Symposium and presenter at the Korean Ministry of Education Sustainable School Symposium.
January 2010 | Taipei & Tainan, Taiwan Lorne McConachie AIA presented to educators, planners, and Ministry of Education officials in Taiwan at the 2010 Microsoft School of the Future Innovative School Forum. His presentations included Architecture for Achievement: Building Patterns for Learning Environments; A Path to the Sustainable Future; and Space Matters: Designing a High School Library for Learning.
