Bassetti Architects’ Experiential Graphic Design (EGD) department plays a key role in enhancing spaces to educate, empower, and inspire users. An indispensable part of any project team, our experiential graphic designers work in-tandem with our architects and interior designers to integrate community identity, owner branding, and design criteria into graphics that enrich and inspire. Our experiential graphic designs deliver a unique storytelling ability that is fresh and enduring; inviting and exploratory; and creates an enhanced environment.

What is Experiential Graphic Design?

According to the Society for Experiential Graphic Design, EGD, “involves the orchestration of typography, color, imagery, form, technology and, especially, content to create environments that communicate.”

At its core, experiential graphic design is a visual representation of the heart of a community, school, or space. Practically at Bassetti, this translates into wall graphics, signage, wayfinding features, and other graphic components – which the design teams integrate into relevant projects to create and uplift a sense of identity and culture.

In-House Experiential Graphic Design for Seamless Integration

While graphics professionals are often independent consultants on architectural projects, Bassetti features an in-house graphic design team as one of our services offered to clients throughout the Pacific Northwest. An essential part of Bassetti projects, our graphic designers work closely with the design team, from the beginning, through closeout. An in-house EGD team allows for responsive graphics which pivot alongside our iterative design process. Bringing graphics into the conversation early creates fully integrated designs which embody the heart and soul of the communities we serve.

Creating Identity and Belonging through Graphic Design

The most influential graphics are embedded into the programming and design methodology of a project. Explore how experiential graphic designs inspired by community users can enhance (or even create) a sense of self for the users it serves.

Fully committed to a project, the Bassetti EGD team ensures their designs fully grasp the scope of the project goal and satisfies the ‘WHY’ behind adding a graphic into a design. This understanding stems from a range of research, from diving into historical archives; to attending community engagement events; to fostering in-depth conversations with stakeholders. This results in an iterative design process which becomes a collaboration of the end users’ vision.
