Maplewood K-8 Cooperative School
2001 - Edmonds, Washington
The Maplewood School in Edmonds, Washington houses 500 students, including a parent-cooperative K-8 program along with district-wide services for physically and emotionally challenged students. A community design process involving students, parents and staff resulted in a school organized around a Student Commons and gymnasium that serves to integrate the diverse population. Learning areas are designed for flexibility in meeting multiple educational scenarios. Accessible technology raceways enhance all areas of the school.
