This summer, as part of our longstanding intern program at Bassetti, we hosted several talented college and high school students in Seattle and Portland.
In Seattle we had Alex Rossetti from the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning, Gayle Elam and Amelia Jarvinen from the University of Washington College of Built Environments’ Master of Architecture program, and Yaqqiyrah Yishmael from Highline Public Schools’ Big Picture High School. Alex spent the summer working on Thomas Jefferson High School for Federal Way Public Schools. Gayle is contributing to Highline High School, Amelia is working on our University of Washington Bothell Campus Yard project, and Yaqqiyrah is helping our interiors team during her junior year as she continues her interior design and architectural studies.
Our Portland interns were Wayny Le from Portland State University’s (PSU) Master of Architecture program, and Arlette Torres-Guzman and Johnathan Tran from Benson Polytechnic High School. Wayny is returning to PSU to complete his senior year. Over the summer, he contributed to our Five Oaks Middle School project’s construction administration. Arlette will be entering her senior year at Benson this fall. Johnathan recently graduated from Benson and will be pursuing his interests in the field at PSU. Wayny, Arlette, and Johnathan all worked together on a presentation video for Five Oaks, capturing the new elements of the school featured in its completed renovation.
We enjoyed having this dedicated group of interns with us. We wish them all the best as they continue to explore and grow in architecture!
